Why marry in Australia?

Australia is considered to be one of the most desired holiday locations in the world.

Perth and Hobart feature in Conde Naste's 2017 "Top Friendliest Cities in the World".

Honeymooners and marrying couples are now discovering the beauty, romance and sheer natural magic of this exotic, far flung destination.

Situated in the South Pacific, Australia is the world's largest island - yet the world's smallest continent.

Australia is surrounded by the world's best beaches, is drenched in sunshine and is home to some of the world's friendliest people. Most of the country's population is scattered around the expansive coastline - leaving the outback centre a wide, open, largely underpopulated destination ready to be explored by the adventurous traveller.

In size, Australia is about the same as the United States - yet its population is less than the State of California. The country's native animals are undisputedly the cutest and most interesting in the world. Koalas, kangaroos, wombats, emus, platypii and wallabies charm visitors from all over the globe.

All of this makes Australia one of the most desired travel destinations in the world and the perfect setting for your dream destination wedding and honeymoon!

You can spoil yourself with a spectacular choice of the most beautiful settings available - from the magnificent Sydney Opera House, a luxury yacht on Sydney Harbour, century-old stone churches, historic timber chapels and Manors, beautiful gardens, rainforests and exotic beaches.

Choose from Australia’s most desired wedding locations in Sydney, the Gold Coast, Cairns and Port Douglas.

Sydney Harbour Opera House Wedding

In 2017, Sydney features in Conde Naste's "Best Cities in the World".

So, what is it that makes this city so vibrant, exciting and fun?

Sydney is acclaimed as one of the "hottest travel destinations in the world!"

Research has found that Americans, British, Germans and Japanese, among others, rated Sydney siders (and Australians in general) as friendly, open-minded and easy going. Our relaxed, outdoor lifestyle is our number one attraction.

Other attractions include our spectacular beaches, gourmet food and wine, native animals and Sydney icons such as The Opera House, Sydney Harbour and Bondi Beach.

Asian visitors reported that they love our cities as being free of overcrowding, pollution and traffic or transport pressures.

New Zealanders rate us as a highly desired holiday location with our international shopping and nightlife as big priorities.

Australia is 'the most desired destination in the world' for Americans, English, German and Japanese travellers.

The city's magnificent harbour and world-famous Opera House make stunning backdrops for your perfect wedding ceremony.

Sydney enjoys a sub-tropcial South Pacific climate, making weddings in this pretty city a year-round consideration. September through to May (the warmer seasons in Sydney) are the most popular wedding months.

There is no place on earth like Sydney, Australia for your wedding and honeymoon!

Do nothing, or do it all. One thing's for sure, you'd be flat-out finding a more exciting holiday destination than Australia's Gold Coast.

It's no wonder The Gold Coast is one of Australia's most sought after destinations for romantic weddings and honeymoons.

What is the best time of year to get married in Australia?

Australia enjoys a sub tropical South Pacific climate making weddings possible throughout the year.

Our Australian Summer is from December to February, Autumn is from March to May, Winter is from June to August and Spring is from September to November.

Sydney enjoys a sunny, Mediterranean-style climate all year round with more than 340 sunny days per year. Summers are warm to hot and winters are mild, with rainfall spread fairly evenly throughout the year. January is usually the warmest month and it can also be humid at this time with an average humidity of 65 per cent. Autumn is mild and one of the most pleasant times to visit as the humidity is lower. The coolest months are June to August with generally mild, sunny days and in Spring the days are warmer with lower humidity than in Summer.

Queensland’s Gold Coast has a comfortable sub-tropical climate which boasts over 300 days of sunshine every year. Summers average temperature is a pleasant 20-28°C and January to March experience the highest rainfall with hot days which are often followed by tropical storms. Spring and Autumn are generally sunny days followed by warm nights and Winter is generally sunny and dry. A lovely climate all year round.

Cairns and Port Douglas are located in tropical far north Queensland. With plenty of sunshine, beautiful warm seas, refreshing sea breezes and a warm climate all year round, Cairns and Port Douglas weather is hard to beat. There are two distinct seasons; a winter period of warm temperatures and low rainfall, and a summer period of balmy temperatures and high rainfall. The Dry season starts in May and finishes in October offering sunshine, fresh breezes and relatively low humidity and the Wet season extends from November to April and refreshes the region with tropical downpours that generally do not last long.

Overall the dry, sunny climate makes Australia the perfect wedding destination all year round.

Getting Married in Australia – The Legal Requirements:

Australian Marriage Law states that our Celebrant must receive the following documents at least one month prior to your wedding day:

Original Signed and Witnessed Notice of Intended Marriage Form
Copies of full birth certificates
Copies of Passports (if born outside Australia)
Copies of Divorce Papers (Decree Absolute, if applicable)
Copies of any change of name by Deed Poll (if applicable)
Your marriage will be legally binding and recognised both in Australia and outside Australia. We organise weddings for couples from all over the world and all of these marriages are legal, regardless of where you decide to live after your wedding.

On the wedding day, after the Ceremony, both the Bride & Groom sign the Certificate of Marriage which is witnessed by two people who are present, and also by the Minister / Celebrant.

You get to keep this copy of the Certificate of Marriage which is called the ‘Bride’s Copy’. The Minister / Celebrant then registers your Marriage with the Registry Office of Births, Deaths & Marriages in the state that you were married, along with an application for the certified copy of the Marriage Certificate. This is the legal document and it will be sent to you by the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages approximately eight weeks after the wedding.

Some European countries require an 'Apostille' stamp on the certified copy of the marriage certificate. This is an official stamp from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
